The Floodgate Key is a key item in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. It is found at the end of the Skeleton Cave (Castle A) and is required to drain all of the water flooding the lower levels of the Luminous Cavern in order for Juste Belmont to progress further and eventually fight Death.
Availability
The Floodgate Key is found near the end of the Skeleton Cave in Castle A (which is visited about midway through the entire game). It is in the large room with the second main box puzzle, lying on the top-left corner and guarded by a White Dragon. The player is thus required to solve this difficult puzzle in order to reach it.
Usage
Once the key has been obtained in the aforementioned location, Juste Belmont must retrace his steps all the way back to the Luminous Cavern, and reach almost the very end of the caves, about two rooms left from where the Merchant's shop is. This room contains a fountain featuring the statue of the head of a lion, as well as a shrine with a cross on its top and a keyhole on its bottom. Entering the room with the key in the inventory will cause Juste to automatically crouch in front of the keyhole and use the mechanism to drain the water. After it has been used, a message will read: "Immense water drained away somewhere", hinting that the lower caverns have finally been drained of water and have become accessible.

Notes
- While the Floodgate Key is the main reward of the Skeleton Cave (Castle A), it isn't required to defeat the (optional) boss of this area, Legion (corpse), in order to reach it.
